Shameless Self-Promotion, AKA "Bio"
I've edited and supervised the post-production of hundreds of commercials: British Airways, Vaseline, Google, General Motors, Coke, Pepsi, Proctor & Gamble, Hasbro, AT&T and countless other brands. For the last few years I've enjoyed doing great corporate videos for Tribe Pictures and others.
I started out at Editing Concepts (now The Now Corporation), followed by a long spell at Crew Cuts (now still plain ol' Crew Cuts). I was briefly at Boomtown (where I failed to strike it rich), then followed my path to Trailblazer Studios in North Carolina (where I blazed a trail every night to the nearest BBQ joint). I joined BBH in 2004, polishing my bad British accent and doing my best to fit into the corporate culture of "good and nice." BBH eventually trusted me to manage the purchase & installation of Final Cut Pro edit suites with fibre-channel shared storage, which was a significant upgrade for the in-house facility. Now I'm freelancing, using either Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Backstory: My interest in movies led to a Columbia University School of the Arts master's degree. The Columbia education allowed me to recognize that the art of cinematic storytelling peaked in 1931 with Chaplin's City Lights. No talking. The irony is that with the corporate work I do now, I'm often asked to cram five minutes of talking into three minutes of video. Last bit of self promotion: A writing project at Columbia won me second place in the Nissan film competition (and a trip to H'wood), while my thesis film (with Bart Weiss) won first place in the Miami International Film Festival.
My hobby is audio and for several years I edited The Audiophile Voice magazine in my spare time. In addition to editorial duties, I contributed equipment and music reviews. Nowadays I just try to enjoy music without thinking so much about equipment. My residence is lovely Maplewood, NJ, where I share a home with my beautiful wife, Ida, and a dog named Kylo. I eat pizza from Arturo's as often as possible.
